Letter from the President
We’re in the midst of health fair season at HealthCorps. At schools around the country, our students are creating booths, demonstrating their knowledge, and drawing local crowds. It’s all in an effort to do one thing: engage the community and change the world around you. These health fairs are proof positive that HealthCorps not only impacts the hundreds of students in each school but the thousands of people within their community. HealthCorps focuses on teens for key reasons. We know from our weekly student surveys that over 60% of our students cook for their families all the time or often. We also know from our surveys that 60% of our students take care of younger siblings or older members of their family in their households. Also, the data is clear that teens are the most important family purchaser. They are a critical consumer segment and , as HealthCorps co-founder Lisa Oz says, teenagers are “little viral vectors” who quickly spread their messaging throughout their friends, family and community.
As a part of our community, we’re inviting you to join us this year at the Garden Gala, our flagship fundraising event in New York. I genuinely hope to see you there.
