Yes, You Can Be an Office Yogi

Are you able to fit a morning or “after work” exercise workout into your life?  If so, that exercise time can help you to manage your weight, and improve your health.  But if your job then requires hours of sitting still and tapping away at a keyboard, you may still risk certain physical injuries.  Sure, getting up to walk to deliver a message can help.  So can walking stairs between floors and a quick stretch.  Still, those hours sitting with little movement can be setting you up for back pain and fatigue, while those fingers clicking away for hours at a keyboard can increase your risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome, or even arthritis.

To the rescue is the Office YogaMD app.  It was developed by a certified yoga instructor and physician and it offers instructions and animations for 21 yoga poses.  Many of the poses can be done sitting in your chair or simply standing by your desk.  Most are designed for beginners, and they address posture, breathing and ways to address neck tension and fatigue.  There are also basic massages for your hands and arms.  You can even set alerts to remind you to do some poses intermittently throughout your work day.

You can get the app on your iPhone or iPad for $0.99.  It’s a small price to pay for some daily healthy relaxation and for avoiding injuries associated with office work!!
