Our Coordinators are recent college grads, often in premed or public policy, who dedicate two years of their lives to creating create a culture of health and wellness in high needs high schools. These Coordinators are the heart of HealthCorps. When they leave HealthCorps, they continue to do great things, broadening our simple but powerful messages of healthy eating, physical fitness and mental resilience.

Ryan Fightmaster: Fighting Diabetes

Ryan Fightmaster served as a HealthCorps Coordinator from 2012-2014 at ASTEC Charter Schools in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ryan, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 9-years-old is now a second year medical student at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He also runs his own blog, Diabetes Daily Grind.

What Happens After HealthCorps: Year 1

Anderson New Technology High School had HealthCorps Coordinators from 2012- 2016. Funded by The California Endowment, Coordinators Betsy Reedy and Natalie Sandoval were tasked with making health topics engaging and relatable, as well as with increasing the capacity of the school to continue health programming following their departure.
