Swap out the Cream
If you love creamy soups but want to reduce the artery-clogging saturated fat that typically accompanies the smooth taste, you can swap out the cream or whole milk for healthier ingredients. Unflavored soy milk, and evaporated skim milk can easily slip in as a replacement in many recipes. Fat free plain yogurt and specifically Greek yogurt can also work in some recipes. It may require some experimentation to get the recipe conversion right, but it will so be worth the calorie and saturated fat savings.
Also consider using mustard to cut mayonnaise in potato salad recipes and create vinegar-based cole slaw and cucumber salads. And consider whipping up a salad with beans, corn and avocado. The robust flavors of just those ingredients mixed together, means your marinade can be calorie light.
