Management Executive/Former CEO of California Walnut Commission

With nearly 50 years of financial, marketing, sales and general management experience in both the domestic and international markets, Dennis Balint developed his management, financial, sales and packaged goods marketing experience as a senior brand manager with American Home Products Corporation (Woolite, Pam Cooking Spray), and as a senior marketing manager for the William Underwood Company (B&M Baked Beans, Accent Flavor Enhancer).  Specific to the nut industry, Balint has served as executive vice president for the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Corporation.

He joined the California Walnut Commission in 1987 as the International Marketing Director and in 1993 assumed similar responsibilities for the Board.  He was named Executive Director/CEO in 1995 until his retirement in the fall of 2017.  The two organizations represent nearly 4,500 walnut growers in the State of California, as well as over 90 handlers who process, package and market California walnuts.  Since 1987 the California walnut industry has grown from just under $250 million in farm gate revenue to an average $1,200,000.000 over the past 5 years.  An extensive health research program has taken the walnut from “fat to fit”, with benefits that address many chronic illnesses such as heart disease.

He currently resides in Folsom with his wife Janet. Their daughter Farren, a graduate of TCU lives and works in Dallas, Texas.
