Quick tips for Better Health

A recent study found that antibiotics may work better than surgery for uncomplicated appendicitis.  In the study, pain and fever resolved in 24 hours for the test subjects who were given an antibiotic.  If pain or fever does not resolve, consult with your physician.  In some cases, the appendix does need to be removed.

Acetaminophenmay be linked to ADHD.  Pregnant women who take Tylenol and other medications that contain acetaminophen are 13% more likely to have a child with ADHD.

Living in areas that have fewer trees increases the risk of depression.  People who live in an area that has less than a 10% “tree canopy” were more likely to feel anxious and unhappy.  In fact, poorer people who live in green areas are happier than wealthy people who live in areas with few trees.  One solution is to bring the green into your home – houseplants and flowers can alleviate those feelings.
