There’s an ongoing discussion about whether rewards are a good idea, when it comes to inspiring people to adopt better health habits. The reward should be better “health, energy, cognition, body appearance” and lower health expenditures because you minimize health conditions associated with excess weight. But for many people, goal setting that involves a tangible payoff just seems to work better. Experts will tell you to reward weight loss milestones with an activity or special purchase or some other “feel good” reward.
