Outdoor Exercise Beats Boredom
If you love working out in the gym, then keep it up. But one of the reasons people abandon indoor activity is because it gets stale or boring. So taking your workout outdoors, when weather permits, can help to keep you engaged and committed to your exercise program. It’s no secret that exercising outdoors is fun because there are no walls, so workout options are endless. Fitness can also be more invigorating in the fresh air, especially when there’s mood-boosting sunshine. Just make sure you wear sun block if you are going to be outdoors when the sun is shining.
An outdoor workout that involves a walk, run, or using your body weight for resistance training can offer a different kind of challenge, compared to indoor workouts. In fact, if you run on a treadmill indoors, you should always set the incline to a setting of “1,” to compensate for the moving belt, which makes running a bit easier.
If you exercise outdoors, you are also less likely to be exposed to germs, which can live on the gym equipment for hours or days. Wipe down any workout machines before you use them, and good gym etiquette suggests that you also clean machines after use.
