Celebrity Chef and Healthy Lifestyle Crusader Recognized with Prestigious
Golden Heart Award
New York (April 4, 2017) – HealthCorps®, a national non-profit that gives young people life-saving skills, honored chef and healthy lifestyle crusader Rocco DiSpirito with the Golden Heart Award at the 11thAnnual Gala on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Pier Sixty on Chelsea Piers in New York. Dr. Mehmet Oz, HealthCorps Chairman, presented DiSpirito with the organization’s highest honor for his unwavering commitment to empowering students to embrace the benefits of healthy and delicious cooking.
DiSpirito was unanimously selected for the Golden Heart Award which recognizes leaders who encourage youth to create simple lifestyle changes that enhance their own health and the well-being of family and friends around them. For nearly a decade, DiSpirito has served as an inspiring advocate for the organization and regularly performs cooking demonstrations, judges cooking competitions, visits schools with his food truck, and participates in community events on behalf of HealthCorps.

The black tie “Tropical Garden” themed gala was hosted by Dr. Oz, renowned cardiothoracic surgeon and seven time, Daytime Emmy Award-winning host of “The Dr. Oz Show,” and his wife and author Lisa Oz. The evening raised funds for HealthCorps to continue its mission of providing young people with lifestyle skills to live longer, healthier, more productive, and happier lives.
