FRESNO, CA – (MARCH 25, 2015)HealthCorps® students and HealthCorps Coordinator, Kate Shelton at Sunnyside High School, will join Quandt Farms, Lock It Up Project, Planned Parenthood, YLI/Friday Night Live, CA Council on Problem Gambling, and Performing Above the High (PATH) to teach students and staff about nutrition, health and wellness at the Annual HealthCorps Health Fair from 8:30am-11:30am and 12:30pm-2pm, FRIDAY, March 27 at Sunnyside High School in Fresno. The thematic “MARVELous” Health Fair will support HealthCorps’ mission to educate teens about the importance of nutrition, exercise and mental resiliency, while engaging attendees in hands-on booths and activities such as the Groot & Rocket Racoon Positivitree, where students write positive messages on the leaves of the tree and experience the impact of ‘cracking a positive joke’. The event will also be an opportunity for students and staff to learn about the benefit of protein at the “Hulk Up” booth while sampling recipes, learning about substance abuse, enjoying fresh vegetables, creating an “Agent SHIELD Badge” at the photo booth and acquiring extensive awareness in health and wellness that will enhance future decision-making abilities. “My classes got so much information that would normally not be available to them. The fair presented the information in a fun environment that makes the kids excited to learn,” said Katie McQuone, Video Production Academy Teacher.
