Keep Your Lunch Organized!

What’s an easy way to brown bag a healthy lunch from home?  Use a bento box, a rectangular box that is used for food presentations in Japanese restaurants.  Bento actually means “packed meal,” and they are becoming quite popular, because a bento allows you to create an organized lunch.   The box has individually sized compartments, perfect for portion control.  Fill the largest compartment with cut up vegetables, and the smaller openings with a protein, fruit, grain and healthy dip made from yogurt or a salsa.

Bento boxes come in various sizes and portable versions typically have a sealed top and/or insulation to keep foods cool.  There are even tempered glass bento boxes that are microwavable.
