Home Yoga for Better Health
If you are a yoga teacher or you take yoga classes, consider “yoga for the home.” Researchers from the University of Maryland School of Nursing released a study suggesting that the more yoga one does at home, the more likely the person will have healthy habits overall. The researchers emphasized that it’s not enough to just learn about healthy living and healthy habits. You have to actually incorporate those habits into daily life. The study suggests that those who bring yoga home, also embrace health in general.
The study which appeared in Evidence Based Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (2012,doi: 10.1155.2012/983258) also reveals that when yoga is adopted as a regular habit, its impact on health begins to occur within a short period of time – you don’t need to engage in yoga for years to reap the benefits. Limitations of the study were that it only focused on Iyengar yoga, so the researchers recommend more studies looking at a number of different types of yoga and their impact on health outcomes.
So bring the yoga home, and practice it regularly!!
