Healthy Homage to Valentine’s Day – Dark Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries
If you want to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a healthy twist, then small portions of very dark chocolate can be the decadent, healthy answer. The antioxidant flavonoids that are in the cacao are associated with a number of unique health benefits. Better yet, you can dip fruits like berries, banana pieces, and apple wedges into dark chocolate. You get the benefit of the fruit nutrients, fruit fiber and the chocolate flavanols!!
This recipe requires two ingredients – bittersweet chocolate (5 ounces) and strawberries (1 pint) with leaves still on:
In a microwave-safe bowl melt 5 ounces of chocolate. Stir till smooth.
Wash the berries thoroughly and pat dry. Holding berries by their stem, dip each about ¾ of the way into the chocolate. Place stem side down on a wire rack and then chill in the refrigerator till the chocolate layer becomes hard. Enjoy!
