In October, our first HealthCorps Houston fundraiser, the Healthy Bites Festival, netted over $26,000 for Hurricane Harvey relief. The monies raised are funding a student-led project in Sharpstown High School, in partnership with teacher Carlos Quintero and HealthCorps Coordinator Rachel Carey to bring tangible relief to those impacted. Mr. Quintero’s students surveyed families in Sharpstown affected by the devastating event, and they are working with these families to address their ongoing needs. Several of the families lost everything and one is still living out of a trailer. We’ll be featuring more about this story and the lives we are improving in the Annual Report.
