Community Partners Support Local High School to Educate Teens in Activities That Strengthen Skills in Nutrition, Exercise and Mental Resiliency

Hayward, CA – (March 8, 2015)HealthCorps® students at Hayward High School will join members from the Golden State Warriors organization and various Community Partners for HealthCorps’ “Treasure Your Health” Health Fair, teaching students and staff about nutrition, health and wellness from 8:45am to 12:45pm on Thursday, March 12.  The Health Fair will share HealthCorps’ mission to educate teens about the importance of nutrition, exercise and mental resiliency, while engaging attendees in hands-on booths and activities including Fitness Challenges, ‘Make Your Own Smoothies Utilizing Bike Power, Aromatherapy and Obstacle Courses, while DJ Spin Dizzy from 99.7 FM entertains the crowd. Members from the Warriors Dance Team will host a prize wheel for students who participate in physical activity such as push-ups or sit-ups prior to spinning the wheel. The event is an opportunity for students and staff to learn life-skills in a fun and exciting way. “The HealthCorps Health Fair is one of the highlights of school events at Hayward High School for both staff and students. From Zumba to pedal-powered smoothie making blenders, the Health Fair invigorates and educates” Jill Barbosa, Health teacher.
