HealthCorps’ Partner: Yoga Across America

Posted 09/26/2013 | By HealthCorps

HealthCorps has renewed its partnership with Yoga Across America.  Here’s a bit of information on this organization whose motto is Yoga for Everyone, Everywhere…

Yoga Across America is inspiring communities across the country. Their teachings provide a foundation for healthy living. They improve health through Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga and health and wellness programs in schools, parks, low-income communities, homeless shelters, nursing homes and many other locations where people don’t have access to the practice, or can’t afford it.

Their mission is to empower students and communities through yoga. By sharing these practices students are discovering that anything is possible. The lessons they learn on their yoga mats are playing out in their everyday lives. On their yoga mats, students make a deep connection with their body, mind and spirit. This connection opens up a world of possibility, and they take this energy of possibility and transformation into their everyday lives. Communities are healthier and better equipped to live longer, more fulfilling lives.

As Yoga Across America reaches out to communities who might not have access to yoga, and other diverse areas, they are co-creating change that benefits everyone.

Also, congratulations to Dr. David L. Katz on the release of his latest book, Disease-Proof: the Remarkable Truth About What Makes Us Well.

The book offers the skills you need to slash your risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and more – by 80%.  The key is to modify behaviors as a powerful  intervention, and the power you hold over reducing disease can surpass even drugs and other therapeutic treatments.  For more information, click here.
