HEALTHCORPS® LAUNCHES PARTNERSHIP WITH POWER CRUNCH AT VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL ‘ALOHA TO HEALTH’ HEALTH FAIR
Power Crunch to Support Nutrition, Fitness and Mental Resiliency Program at Santa Ana High School
SANTA ANA, CALIF. (April 22, 2015) – HealthCorps®, a 501(c)(3) that addresses the childhood obesity crisis through high school initiatives, will launch a partnership with Power Crunch, an innovative line of great-tasting protein bars, powders and ready-to-drink shakes, at Valley High School in Santa Ana, California on Friday, April 24th from 10:30AM-1PM at the “Aloha To Health” Health Fair. The fair will support HealthCorps’ mission by joining HealthCorps, Active Alliance and Power Crunch with various community partners to teach students and staff about nutrition, fitness and mental resiliency through engaging activities.
Students will learn about the benefit of protein through the Power Crunch Q & A Spin Wheel. They will also sample delicious healthy snacks and compete in a challenge at the “Fun With Fitness” booth to win fitness band products and walnuts. Power Crunch CEO Kevin Lawrence, a former world-class body builder, developed Power Crunch in response to his child’s nutrition medical crisis and has created a brand, Power Crunch, known as the Einstein of Protein. “We are very impressed with the work HealthCorps is doing to help educate our children to live healthier lives to fight childhood obesity and diabetes – a cause that is also very close to our hearts at Power Crunch,” said Lawrence. “We make it our mission to help people live smart with proper nutrition, and that starts with making a strong impression on today’s youth. We look forward to working with HealthCorps and sharing our knowledge to help make this important initiative an even bigger success.”
“Kevin Lawrence is a powerful example of a CEO whose personal life parallels the mission of his company as well as the HealthCorps mission to help young people discover more practical ways to find nutritional health in an unhealthy world,” said HealthCorps President, Michelle Bouchard. ““He is the rare CEO who is willing to commit his time with students and educators, sharing inspiring lessons of health and well-being he has learned over the course of his years.”
The California Walnut Board, the Lakers Youth Foundation and various community partners, also support the HealthCorps Health Fair. Attendees will be encouraged to participate in hands-on activities such as HealthCorps’ Think Before You Drink lesson, where participants will guess which beverage is highest in sugar content and measure sugar in each drink to determine which is the healthiest choice. The event will also be an opportunity for students and staff to remember that ‘Life is Sweet’, an interactive mural project featuring a giant banana sundae painted by the students. Health Fair participants will write down one positive note about their lives as an added ‘sprinkle’ on the sundae. Additionally, the venue will provide an experience to learn about blood pressure, oral and dental hygiene and natural DIY skin and hair care products in a fun and exciting way.
