HealthCorps Hires West Coast Communications Manager
A New Voice Shares the HealthCorps Mission; Supporting Teens in Nutrition, Wellness and Mental Resilience in High-Need Schools
Sacramento, CA – November 6, 2014 – HealthCorps (http://www.healthcorps.org) announced today that Lisa Troshinsky-Vernekoff has joined their Sacramento headquarters as the new West Coast Communications Manager. Prior to HealthCorps, Ms. Troshinsky-Vernekoff worked with a variety of organizations including Initiative Media, Sacramento Kings, Office of Traffic and Safety, California Prune Board, Villagio Inn & Spa, Comcast and PHADPad.com.
Ms. Troshinsky-Vernekoff will support HealthCorps to ignite greater awareness about the organization’s mission; educating teens in high-need schools about nutrition, wellness and mental resilience. The programs are led by HealthCorps Coordinators and supported by sponsors in 56 schools nationwide.
Whether managing their own decisions, serving as caregivers for siblings or responsible for food shopping within a household, teens often begin high school as kids and are expected to graduate into the “real world” as adults. HealthCorps provides tailored resources for each school by teaching students a holistic skillset to last a lifetime.
Ms. Troshinsky-Vernekoff will proactively seek opportunities to strengthen HealthCorps’ outreach efforts. Lisa comments, “HealthCorps is currently in six schools in the Sacramento region alone. I am thrilled to advocate for an organization that aligns with my personal and professional values. It is both exciting and rewarding to share heartwarming stories about teens that directly benefit from the HealthCorps program while increasing awareness about the invaluable ‘gifts’ HealthCorps provides this underserved teen population. The creative platform implemented in each high school helps to educate students when presented with choices throughout their lives. I look forward to inspiring businesses and individuals to connect with HealthCorps by promoting opportunities within our local community and beyond.”
