HealthCorps Announces Hiring of Two New Educational Program Supervisors

Sacramento, CA – HealthCorps, a 501c3 co-founded by Dr. Mehmet and Lisa Oz to combat the childhood obesity crisis, has hired two new Educational Program Supervisors (EPS).

Micheline Tocco, former coordinator at Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, DC, will serve as the Northeast Region EPS. Tocco is a graduate of the University of Maryland and will be based out of New York City.

Tyler Mar, former coordinator at American Legion High School in Sacramento, CA, will serve as the Southwest Region EPS. Mar is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, and will be based out of Los Angeles.

The Educational Program Supervisors are responsible for managing the Coordinators working in HealthCorps’ Living Labs high schools. In this capacity, they will be providing full support to Coordinators as well as liaising with principals and school administration to ensure full implementation of the HealthCorps program. HealthCorps Coordinators teach a minimum of ten classes a week and lead innovative in-school and after-school programming based on a curriculum of Nutrition, Fitness, and Mental Resilience. Examples of HealthCorps’ work include lessons such as “Brand of You”; the Teen Battle Chef after-school cooking club; and Café O Yea, an in-school stand that provides students with samples of healthy snacks.

HealthCorps President Michelle Bouchard states: “We are proud to welcome Micheline and Tyler to our education team. Their experience as coordinators, in conjunction with their natural leadership abilities, will translate to robust Living Labs programs in their regions.”

HealthCorps’ Vice President of Programs, Karen Buonocore, adds “I am excited for Micheline and Tyler’s new responsibilities within HealthCorps, and look forward to the insight, passion, and energy they are sure to contribute to the role.”

About HealthCorps

HealthCorps® is a 501 (c) 3 founded in 2003 by heart surgeon and Daytime Emmy Award-winning host Dr. Mehmet Oz and his wife Lisa to combat the childhood obesity crisis. HealthCorps is building a nationwide movement to shape a new generation.

HealthCorps Coordinators lead unique in-school and community programming designed to foster physical and mental fitness, particularly among high-need populations. The Coordinators serve as peer-mentors who deliver a progressive curriculum in nutrition, exercise and mental strength to students nationwide. For more than a decade, the HealthCorps program has inspired its participants to adopt a healthier lifestyle. And the HealthCorps schools have served as Living Labs through which we can explore the complex, underlying causes of the obesity crisis, as well as discover, communicate implement and advocate for national and regional solutions.

Today, the program network spans 60 schools in 13 states and the District of Columbia. Ultimately, HealthCorps’ goal is to extend the reach of its program to an ever-wider network of American communities. To that end, in 2012, we introduced HealthCorps University, a train the trainer professional development program that makes available the HealthCorps principles and curriculum to virtually any school, community or organization.
