Do I need to drink a sports drink if I exercise daily?

If you are exercising for about an hour daily and drink water before, during and after even a moderate to strenuous workout, you should be fine. Sports drinks, which have sugar calories as well as some electrolytes are for strenuous, extended workout recovery. The mistake a lot of parents make is offering these drinks to kids who “just run around a bit.” Water and a banana would be a far better replenishing snack. Adults also seize these sports drinks after minimal workout efforts, because it’s assumed we need to replace sodium and potassium lost during exercise. Again, water and a fruit are usually sufficient.
