December Highway to Health Fairs

Posted 01/29/2014 | By HealthCorps

During the month of December, fifteen schools hosted Highway to Health events. Coordinators Victoria Lyon, Rachel Sabes and Olympia Burston showed off their superhero gear while improving student and staff wellness at the Health Careers Academy Health Heroes Health Fair in Stockton, California.

The Health Careers Academy’s health fair was 1 of 15 in-school health fairs to take place in HealthCorps high schools during the month of December, impacting more than 10,000 students and staff across the U.S. Health fair attendees had opportunities to participate in exciting physical fitness activities, nutrition education, and mental resilience activities.

There were Zumba demonstrations, rock climbing, learning about food portioning, and setting personal goals for 2014. Highway to Health Fairs had extensive press coverage including:

1. The Brooklyn Eagle

2. The Fresno Bee

Each Highway to Health fair brings together staff, students and local organizations who transform the school into a hub for health and wellness outreach to the community, for a day. You can learn more about our 2014 health fairs by clicking here.
