Name: Ysaint Sanchez

Age: 27

Hometown: Bronx, NY

College Attended, Major: Binghamton University, Psychology

HealthCorps high school: University Heights High School, Bronx, NY

Fun Fact:  I love traveling and exploring different cultures. I’ve visited 10 countries; 8 of them completely alone!

How did you become involved with HealthCorps?

I learned about HealthCorps by chance. Before becoming a coordinator, I worked as a recruiter for a small private company. I actually met a HealthCorps coordinator at a Career Fair I attended as a recruiter. When I learned about HealthCorps’ mission and the coordinator role, I knew it was the perfect job for me!

What has been the highlight of your placement so far?

I’ve loved  getting to know my students during mentoring hours and cooking club. It’s been wonderful learning from them and getting to know their unique personalities and strengths. I’ve loved motivating them to pursue opportunities and seeing them grow overtime.

Outside of the classroom, what are some of the activities that you are involved with?

Anything that involves me discovering new ideas, places, foods, and experiences! I also really enjoy spending time with close friends and family, reading, going for bike rides, practicing yoga, cooking and drawing.

What do you plan to pursue after your service to HealthCorps is complete?

After HealthCorps, I would like to continue to learn more about the human body (specifically the microbiome and the mind body connection) in order to help people live the healthiest, happiest lives they possibly can!

What is one thing you have learned from your placement that you will be able to carry with you as you move forward in life?

I’ve learned just how important it is to remain passionate, always.
