Cleveland Metropolitan School District Honors Promoters of Healthy Eating & Exercise

Posted 05/15/2015 | By HealthCorps

On May 5, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District hosted an awards ceremony to honor schools, principals, teachers and parents working to promote health and wellness throughout the district.  HealthCorps high school, Ginn Academy, was among the schools recognized for its efforts and won 3 awards: School Breakfast Champion; Early Implementation Award; and National Recognized School.  Terrika Kelley, Coordinator at Ginn Academy, was invited to participate in the event, and hosted 4 informational sessions for educators.  In these 30-minutes sessions, she discussed interactive lessons she teaches through Living Labs (demonstrating the Digestive Highway lesson), ran a Jammin’ Minutes activity, and led a brainstorming session around how to integrate activities big or small into schools. Watch a clip from one of Terrika’s demonstrations, here.
