Choose Lavendar for Relaxation and More

Health magazine recently reviewed the benefits of lavender, which is typically associated with a calming effect. But the herb offers a bounty of wonderful benefits:

  • Lavender scent may reduce anxiety according to an Austrian study
  • Lavender essence oil added to olive oil and warmed in the microwave, then applied to your scalp, may help to reduce dandruff. Leave on for an hour under a shower cap and then rinse well.
  • Culinary lavender may help to reduce bloat. You can sprinkle it on cereal, in yogurt or add to a smoothie.
  • Lavender essential oil (a few drops) may help to reduce the itchiness associated with irritated skin. Always use a patch test (test on a small area of skin) to make sure it doesn’t make a rash or the itchiness worse.
