Can certain foods raise or lower my risk of uterine fibroids?

According to reviews of several recent studies, dairy foods may have a protective affect. Despite some conflicting data, soy does not appear to increase the risk of uterine fibroids. Eating a high glycemic index diet, which means a diet that is processed and high in refined sugars, may increase your risk as well.

Remember that many things may contribute to a “risk for a certain disease,” so it’s always a good idea to talk to a health professional and discuss your personal risk for certain specific diseases, especially if there are some conditions that seem to be prevalent in your family history.
