Benson High School Nike Just Do It With The Fuel Band Project

Posted 03/14/2013 | By HealthCorps

Benson High School’s innovative physical education program added a fun, new research component to help track and increase student movement. As an extension of the recently awarded grant, Nike donated 300 of their pedometers, known as Fuel Bands to the high school, and spent a day with students and staff to help check-out bands, set up the corresponding accounts and earn some fuel points by working out with a Nike trainer.

More than 200 freshmen received bands as well as several dozen staff members, all of whom will be able to participate in several health and wellness challenges planned for the spring.

Keeping teens engaged with physical activity can be hugely challenging.  New technology to fuel motivation is one way to keep teens excited about exercising.  It can also help to prod them to continue to set new physical goals.  Nike’s contribution will be immeasurable and is sure to boost student movement as well as help to track their progress.
