ASTEC Charter School Loves Oklahoma City Whole Foods!

Posted 03/28/2013 | By HealthCorps

Over the last six months, the HealthCorps’ coordinators at ASTEC developed a relationship with the new-to-the area Whole Foods.  Specifically, HealthCorps reached out to them about participating in the “Twas the Night Before Wellness” Health Fair. Whole Foods’ representatives set-up a booth at the health fair, teaching students how to choose healthy snack alternatives. After their marketing team leader met the ASTEC students, the plan to hold a fundraiser for HealthCorps was hatched.

On January 17th, Whole Foods Market in Oklahoma City held its first 5% day for HealthCorps, where it donated 5% of the day’s sales to the HealthCorps program at ASTEC Charter School. HealthCorps coordinator Ryan Fightmaster and ASTEC students also spent the afternoon at Whole Foods, leading interactive workshops on “Which is a Whole Food?” for customers.  From the day’s sales, Whole Foods donated $4,300 to the HealthCorps at ASTEC program to support developing additional fitness and nutrition programming

A big thank you to Whole Foods Oklahoma City for their support!
