Anthem Blue Cross Western President Pamela Kehaly appointed to HealthCorps’ Board of Directors

NEW YORK, NY (July 11, 2016) – HealthCorps® (www.healthcorps.org), HealthCorps®, a leader in the nationwide movement of healthy young people, is proud to announce that Anthem Blue Cross Western President Pamela Kehaly, who has become a true influencer in the business of healthcare has been appointed to HealthCorps’ Board of directors.

“I firmly believe that if you can find a way to teach people how to be healthy and active when they’re young, you can help prevent a whole host of other health problems later on,” said Pam Kehaly, President, Anthem West Region and Specialty Business.  “Healthcorps model of young mentors engaging directly with high school students does just that by actively teaching them to eat right and to get physically and mentally fit.  I’m proud to serve on Healthcorps Board and to be part of their work to help teens get and stay healthy.”

Ms. Kehaly brings an abundance of resources and experience to the board that will help continue to grow HealthCorps mission. Among her many accomplishments is her major role in developing Vivity, an innovative program that partners an insurance company with hospitals to help manage illnesses and achieve measurable results in wellness. Anthem Blue Cross Western aims to provide people with the financial security needed to tackle healthcare and her personal mission is to help individuals enjoy better lives.

“Pam Kehaly, through her work with Anthem, shares the same mission as Healthcorps and its partners: elimination of chromic disease through a prevention based lifestyle., says Dr. Mehmet Oz. As her company managed millions of lives, Healthcorps hopes to provide the adults Anthem will manage in the future with the tools of proper nutrition, exercise and mental resilience. Her perspective will be invaluable to HC carrying out its mission.”

About Healthcorps

HealthCorps is a national non-profit organization that gives teens tools to improve physical and
mental health so they can learn to live more productive and happier lives. HealthCorps students exercise more, eat better and practice positive thought. The program will impact almost 1 million students across 19 states in 2016.  The HealthCorps curriculum has been refined and developed in its in-school Living Labs program since 2003, where a full-time Coordinator is placed inside a high-need high school to mentor hundreds of students, teach health related workshops, and promote a variety of during and after school activities. Coordinators are recent college graduates who go on to careers in medicine, public health policy or wellness practices.  HealthCorps University is an intense professional development program that certifies participants to bring HealthCorps’ innovative health and wellness curriculum to their organization whether it’s a school system, community organization or corporation. In 2015, HealthCorps teamed with CK-12 to distribute free, interactive and customizable versions of the HealthCorps curriculum for educators and students to use.   For more information please visit Healthcorps.org – need CA references.
