Addressing Pet Anxiety, an App for vision and the Benefits of Iced Coffee

If your dog is experiencing anxiety, swaddling him can help to reduce stress.  Traveling, sudden noises like firecrackers or a thunderstorm, and leaving your pets at home while you vacation can trigger stress in your pet.  Some companies are making small “jackets” so you can swaddle your dog.  Ask at your local pet shop.

Coming out in a few months, a new-90 second iPhone App called myVisionTrack allows you to test your eyes, between regular eye checks, to make sure you are not developing macular degeneration or diabetic retinopathy, both of which can dramatically impair eyesight permanently.  This app is an especially appropriate screening tool if you have pre-diabetes, diabetes or a family history of macular degeneration.

Drinking an iced coffee with about 185 milligrams of caffeine, or a large cup of tea with a similar caffeine equivalent, an hour before a weight workout, can help weights to “feel lighter” and allow you to work out harder.  Just remember to hydrate with water during and after a challenging strength training session.
