“I am tremendously proud of having become a health educator, mentor, resource, and advocate at one of New York City’s most underserved public high schools. As I seek a career in public health law and policy, the insights and experiences I have gained through HealthCorps have prepared me to become a more compassionate and effective health advocate.

“During my tenure with HealthCorps, I have led interactive classroom workshops that visually reveal the fat and sugar content of a fast-food meal, demonstrated healthy recipes in an after-school cooking club, organized health fairs and ran a pedometer competition to encourage walking. Many of my students have emerged with a newfound awareness of and passion for healthy choices.”
