What Should You Do if You Are with Someone Who Suddenly Feels Faint?
What should you do if you are with someone who suddenly feels faint?
The person should always either sit down and if possible lower their head to their knees or lie down on the floor and raise their legs – both positions help to restore blood flow (and oxygen) to the brain. Check breathing and perform CPR (it is now recommended without the breath component) if the person becomes unresponsive and you cannot get a pulse. Always have someone call 911 immediately.
If the person appears to be faint due to hyperventilating, have them re-breathe into a paper bag or any bag that is handy.
If the person is a diabetic and still responsive, then try offering a bit of orange juice or sugary drink to raise blood sugar.
