Cook Before You Eat – HealthCorps' Tips for Healthy meals and Snacks

Cooking and eating with family and friends is the perfect way to get and stay healthy.

Teen Iron ChefOne doesn’t have to be trained in French cooking to prepare healthy gourmet meals. At HealthCorps schools, students are learning to cook nutritious gourmet meals through the Teen Iron Chef Program.
 
At home, eating healthy can be easy with practice. 
 
 
  • Choose nutritious ingredients – especially colorful vegetables like red pepper, yams, green or red kale and broccoli
  • Replace corn oil with olive oil or flaxseed oil
  • Use fresh herbs and garlic or onion to add flavor, rather than salt
  • Take time to eat dinner with family members in a relaxed atmosphere. Enhance your wellness by investing time in YOU.
